Cockroach
Cockroaches are associated with unsanitary conditions.  This isn’t always the case, but cockroaches thrive in unsanitary conditions, such as sewers, garbage disposals, bathrooms and storage areas indoors.  Filth and germs from these sources are spread from the cockroaches onto food supplies, food preparation surfaces, dishes, utensils, and other surfaces.  Diseases transmitted as a result of these habits include various forms of food poisoning or gastroenteritis and health threatening allergens.  The first phase of treatment is sanitation of the infected areas.  This includes cleaning procedures to remove food and water sources, but also the elimination of cockroach harborages by caulking or similar structural repairs.  All cracks and crevices must be sealed.  Depending on the type of cockroach, the females carry the egg capsule protruding from the abdomen until the eggs are ready to hatch.  German cockroaches have a larger number of egg per capsule than other species and has the shortest period to develop from hatching until sexual maturity.  These factors combine to elicit a high reproductive potential which can result in large infestations.  Identifying the species of cockroaches is critical to eradication of the population.  Cockroach eradication is an ongoing procedure with the pest professional and home/business owner.

Wachusett Pest Control recommends the professional approach to controlling the cockroach problem.  We will complete a thorough investigation to identify the problem and design a specific program for the management of cockroaches at your home or business.
